ที่ปรึกษาของรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศเชิญผ้าพระกฐินพระราชทานไปทอดถวาย ณ วัดมัลวัตตุมหาวิหาร เมืองแคนดี สาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตยศรีลังกา
เมื่อวันที่ 25 ตุลาคม 2568 นาจักร บุญ-หลง ที่ปรึกษาของรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เป็นประธานในการเชิญผ้าพระกฐินพระราชทานจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ไปทอดถวาย ณ วัดมัลวัตตุมหาวิหาร เมืองแคนดี สาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตยศรีลังกา โดยมีพระมหาเถระศรีสิทธารถะ สุมังคละ มหานายกะเถระ เจ้าอาวาสวัดมัลวัตตุ เป็นประธานฝ่ายสงฆ์
พิธีดังกล่าวมีนาย Gamini Senarathne, Commissioner General, Department of Buddhist Affairs เป็นผู้แทนระดับสูงฝ่ายศรีลังกา เอกอัครราชทูตอินโดนีเซียประจำศรีลังกา และเอกอัครราชทูตเมียนมาประจำศรีลังกา พร้อมด้วยนายไพฑูรย์ มหาพัณณาภรณ์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ นายปาณิดล ปัจฉิมสวัสดิ์ รองอธิบดีกรมสารนิเทศ ข้าราชการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ ตลอดจนพุทธศาสนิกชนชาวไทยและศรีลังกา เข้าร่วม
การเชิญผ้ากฐินพระราชทานครั้งนี้สามารถรวบรวมเงินบริจาค ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วยเงินบำรุงพระอารามพระราชทานจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เงินบริจาคโดยเสด็จพระราชกุศลจากกระทรวงการต่างประเทศและผู้มีจิตศรัทธาชาวไทยและชาวศรีลังกา รวมทั้งสิ้น 395,200 บาท 261,650 รูปีศรีลังกา และ 20 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐ
วัดมัลวัตตุมหาวิหารเป็นหนึ่งในพระอารามสำคัญที่สุดของพุทธศาสนาสยามนิกายในศรีลังกา ก่อตั้งขึ้นราวพุทธศตวรรษที่ 21 ในพื้นที่สวนหลวงของราชสำนักแคนดี ภายในวัดมีสถาปัตยกรรมเก่าแก่ และศิลปกรรมที่ทรงคุณค่า สะท้อนถึงความรุ่งเรืองของพระพุทธศาสนาในศรีลังกา กล่าวคือ (1) อุโบสถซึ่งก่อสร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี 2296 ภายหลังการฟื้นฟูการอุปสมบท โดยถือเป็นสัญลักษณ์สำคัญของพระพุทธศาสนาในลังกาทวีปจนถึงปัจจุบัน อุโบสถแห่งนี้เป็นสถานที่ที่สามเณรและพระสงฆ์จากวัดต่าง ๆ กว่า 5,000 แห่งทั่วเกาะศรีลังกาจะเดินทางมารับการอุปสมบทและประกอบสังฆกรรม (2) โพยะเก อาคารประชุมสงฆ์สำหรับประกอบพิธีกรรมและการประชุมสำคัญ รวมถึงเจดีย์และวิหารแบบศิลปะแคนดีที่เก่าแก่
การเชิญผ้าพระกฐินพระราชทานไปทอดถวายที่ศรีลังกาครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งที่ 22 ซึ่งถือว่า เป็นการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีระหว่างไทยกับศรีลังกาที่มีมาเป็นเวลานาน โดยมีพระพุทธศาสนานิกายเถรวาทเป็นสิ่งเชื่อมโยงระหว่างสองประเทศ ทั้งนี้ ศรีลังกาให้ความสำคัญกับประเทศไทยในฐานะที่ช่วยฟื้นฟูพระพุทธศาสนาในศรีลังกา
อนึ่ง กระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้ดำเนินโครงการเชิญผ้าพระกฐินพระราชทานไปทอดถวาย ณ วัดพุทธศาสนาในต่างประเทศมาตั้งแต่ปี 2538 เป็นประจำทุกปีจนถึงปัจจุบัน โดยเน้นวัดพุทธศาสนาที่เป็นที่เคารพศรัทธาของพุทธศาสนิกชนในท้องถิ่น โดยขยายจากประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน ไปยังประเทศในกลุ่มอาเซียน ภูมิภาคเอเชียใต้ ตลอดจนภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกที่มีประชาชนนับถือพุทธศาสนาด้วย โดยในปี 2568 ได้อัญเชิญผ้าพระกฐินพระราชทานไปทอดถวาย จำนวน 8 ประเทศ ได้แก่ อินเดีย เมียนมา มาเลเซีย ภูฏาน ศรีลังกา ลาว เวียดนาม และจีน
โครงการดังกล่าวเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการดำเนินงานด้านการทูตวัฒนธรรม เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในระดับประชาชนสู่ประชาชน

Political Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Presented the Royal Kathina Robe at Malwathu Maha Viharaya, Kandy, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
On 25 October 2025, Mr. Jukr Boon-Long, Political Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the presentation ceremony of the Royal Kathina Robe, graciously bestowed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, at Malwathu Maha Viharaya, Kandy, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The ceremony was led by Most Venerable Tibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayaka Maha Thero, Abbot of Malwathu Maha Viharaya, and attended by Mr. Gamini Senarathne, Commissioner General, Department of Buddhist Affairs of Sri Lanka; Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka; Ambassador of Myanmar to Sri Lanka; H.E. Mr. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka; Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information; officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Embassy in Columbo; as well as members of the Thai and Sri Lankan Buddhist communities.
This year’s Royal Kathina offering received contributions from His Majesty the King, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Thai and Sri Lankan devotees amounting to 396,200 Thai Baht, 261,650 Sri Lankan Rupee, and 20 U.S. Dollars.
Malwathu Maha Viharaya is one of the most important monasteries of Siamese Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It was founded around the 21st century B.E. in the royal garden of the Kandy royal court. Inside the temple complex, there are ancient architectures and valuable artifacts, reflecting the glory of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, namely (1) Uposathaghara or Chapter House, built in 1753 after the restoration of ordination, and remains an important symbol of Buddhism in Sri Lanka to this day. This Uposathaghara is the place where novices and monks from more than 5,000 monasteries across Sri Lanka travel to receive ordination and perform religious duties; and (2) Poya-ge, a meeting hall for monks for important ceremonies and meetings, as well as ancient Kandy-style stupas and temples.
This event marks the 22nd Royal Kathina Robe offering ceremony in Sri Lanka, which helps strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka, with Theravada Buddhism connecting the two countries. Sri Lanka attaches importance to Thailand as a contributor to the revival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.
Since 1995, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized the presentation ceremonies of the Royal Kathina Robes annually at Buddhist temples abroad as part of Thailand’s cultural diplomacy initiative in strengthening friendship and fostering people-to-people ties through Buddhism. The scope and numbers of countries have gradually expanded from neighbouring countries to ASEAN Member States, South Asia, and, eventually, East Asia. In 2025, the Royal Kathina Robes are being presented in eight countries – India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and China – bringing the total to 198 ceremonies in 13 countries over 31 years.
