เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน เป็นเจ้าภาพงานเลี้ยงรับรองเพื่อเฉลิมฉลองโอกาสครบรอบ ๑๙๐ ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตไทย-สหรัฐฯ
เมื่อวันที่ ๓๐ มิ.ย. ๒๕๖๖ นายธานี แสงรัตน์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน ร่วมกับนางEsther Coopersmith อดีตเอกอัครราชทูตผู้แทนถาวรสหรัฐฯ ประจำสหประชาชาติเป็นเจ้าภาพงานเลี้ยงรับรองเพื่อเฉลิมฉลองโอกาสครบรอบ ๑๙๐ ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตไทย–สหรัฐฯ ณ Larz Anderson House กรุงวอชิงตัน โดยมีผู้ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อความเป็นหุ้นส่วนไทย–สหรัฐฯ และเป็นมิตรของไทยและสหรัฐฯ เข้าร่วมงานกว่า ๒๕๐ คน รวมถึง นาย Lloyd Austin รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงกลาโหมสหรัฐฯ นางMarisa Lago ปลัดกระทรวงพาณิชย์สหรัฐฯ ด้านการค้าระหว่างประเทศ นาง Erika Moritsugu รองผู้ช่วยประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ และผู้ประสานงานอาวุโสด้านชาวอเมริกันเชื้อสายเอเชียและชาวหมู่เกาะแปซิฟิก นาย Daniel Kritenbrink ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ ด้านเอเชีย–แปซิฟิก และนาย Ted Yoho อดีตสมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรสหรัฐฯ (R-FL)
เอกอัครราชทูตฯ กล่าวต้อนรับผู้เข้าร่วมงาน และกล่าวถึงความสัมพันธ์ไทย–สหรัฐฯ ที่มีมาอย่างยาวนานและใกล้ชิดกว่า ๑๙๐ ปี และมีพลวัตของความร่วมมือและความเป็นหุ้นส่วนที่เพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องทุกมิติ ตลอดจนขอบคุณผู้สนับสนุนการจัดงานทุกภาคส่วนโดยเฉพาะภาคเอกชนไทยและสหรัฐฯ ชุมชนไทยในสหรัฐฯ
ผู้แทนหน่วยงานสหรัฐฯ ได้กล่าวแสดงความยินดีต่อโอกาสการครบรอบ ๑๙๐ ปี ความสัมพันธ์ไทย–สหรัฐฯ และความสำคัญของความเป็นพันธมิตรในทุกมิติของประเทศทั้งสองพร้อมแสดงความหวังที่จะขยายตัวต่อไปในอนาคต นอกจากนี้ มีการเผยแพร่วิดีทัศน์การกล่าวเฉลิมฉลองการครบรอบ ๑๙๐ ปี ความสัมพันธ์ไทย–สหรัฐฯ โดยนางTammy Duckworth สมาชิกวุฒิสภาสหรัฐฯ (D-IL) และนาง Michelle Park Steel สมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรสหรัฐฯ (R-CA) ต่อวุฒิสภาสหรัฐฯ และสภาผู้แทนราษฎรสหรัฐฯ ตามลำดับ และในโอกาสนี้ นาย Ben de Guzman ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานนายกเทศมนตรีกรุงวอชิงตัน ด้านกิจการชาวเอเชียและหมู่เกาะแปซิฟิก ได้มอบประกาศนายกเทศมนตรีกรุงวอชิงตัน เฉลิมฉลองการครบรอบ ๑๙๐ ปี ความสัมพันธ์ไทย–สหรัฐฯ และนาย Philip Singleton หัวหน้าสำนักงานของ สส. Rich McCormick (R-GA) ได้เป็นผู้แทนมอบ Congressional Record ที่ออกโดย สส. McCormick เพื่อตอกย้ำถึงความสำคัญของความสัมพันธ์ ๑๙๐ ปี ด้วย
ในงานมีการแสดงวัฒนธรรมผสมผสานไทย–อเมริกัน การสาธิตนวดไทยโดยสมาคมนวดและสปาไทยในอเมริกา การสาธิตมวยไทยโดยแชมป์มวยไทย บัวขาว บัญชาเมฆการแสดง T-Pop โดยวง 4 Mix วง LGBTQ+ วงแรกของไทย และแอลลี่ นิติพน การบรรเลงเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ในพระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตรและเพลงอเมริกันโดย Wendell Brunious และวง the New Orleans Quintet ตลอดจนมีการเผยแพร่ผลไม้ไทยที่นำเข้าจากประเทศไทย รวมถึงส้มโอ ซึ่งเป็นครั้งแรกของการส่งออกส้มโอจากไทยไปสหรัฐฯ โดยความร่วมมือของกระทรวงเกษตรฯ และกระทรวงพาณิชย์สหรัฐฯ
Larz Anderson House สถานที่จัดงาน เคยเป็นสถานที่ซึ่งรัฐบาลสหรัฐฯ จัดถวายให้เป็นที่ประทับของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว และสมเด็จพระนางเจ้ารำไพพรรณี พระบรมราชินี เมื่อครั้งเสด็จฯ เยือนกรุงวอชิงตัน ในปี ๒๔๗๔ ซึ่งเป็นการเสด็จฯเยือนสหรัฐฯ ของพระมหากษัตริย์ไทยเป็นครั้งแรกด้วย
Ambassador Tanee Sangrat hosts a reception to commemorate the 190th Anniversary of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations
On 30 June 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and Ambassador Esther Coopersmith hosted a dinner reception to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations at the Larz Anderson House, Washington, D.C.
The reception was attended by more than 250 friends of Thailand and the U.S. who have contributed greatly to the Thai-U.S. partnership including Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago, Deputy Assistant to the President and Asian American and Pacific Islander Senior Liaison Erika Moritsugu, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink, and Former Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL).
The Ambassador welcomed the guests and gave remarks on the 190 years of long-standing and close relations between Thailand and the U.S., and the increasing dynamism of collaboration and partnership in all dimensions between the two countries, as well as expressed appreciation to all from various sectors supporting the organization of the dinner reception, particularly the Thai and U.S. business sectors and the Thai communities in the U.S. The U.S. representatives also gave remarks to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Thai-U.S. relations and the importance of the alliance in all fields with the hope of gaining more momentum into the future.
Recorded floor speeches to commemorate the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations by Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Representative Michelle Park Steel (R-CA) were broadcast. Director Ben de Guzman, Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs, presented the Proclamation of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser commemorating the 190th anniversary of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations to the Ambassador. In addition, Philip Singleton Chief of Staff of Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) also presented Congressional Record from Rep. McCormick on commemorating 190 years of alliance.
The program included Thai-American cultural performances, comprising Nuad Thai (traditional Thai massage) demonstration, Muay Thai demonstration by celebrated Muay Thai Champion “Buakaw Banchamek”, T-Pop performance by the famous “4 Mix” Thai LGBTQ+ pop music group, and rising Thai pop star “Ally Nitibon”, and a performance of royal compositions of H.M. the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej by “Wendell Brunious” and the New Orleans Quintet. Thai fruits, including the first lot of pomelo ever imported from Thailand, were served in the reception, thanks to Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand and U.S. Department of Commerce.
Larz Anderson House was the accommodation for King Prajadhipok and Queen Rambhai Barni during their visit to Washington, D.C. in 1933, which was the first ever visit of the King of Thailand to the U.S.
